Is it permissible to give charity to a beloved person without their knowledge, and will they know about it on the Day of Judgment?

If the charity is obligatory (Zakat (definition) al-Mal), then it is not permissible to give it except to those who are eligible from the eight categories mentioned in the Qur’an. As for voluntary, recommended charity, its matter is broad, and it is permissible to give it to Muslims and non-Muslims alike. If the intention is to give charity on his behalf after his death, then that is permissible, and its reward reaches him. As for his knowledge of the charity on the Day of Resurrection, no explicit text has been reported concerning it, but the arrival of the reward implies his knowledge of it.
