Is it permissible for a wife to give her Zakat on her money (approximately 200 dinars) to her poor, indebted husband (30,0 dinars), knowing that the wife contributes to household expenses, and will the reward in this case be less than if she were to give it to other needy individuals?
Source: FtawySummary from Ftawy's records · added here Sep 2, 2026
If the husband is poor and his salary is not sufficient for him, or he is in debt and unable to repay, it is permissible for the wife to give her to him. She will receive two rewards: the reward for charity and the reward for kinship, even if the husband spends the money on his wife and children. The wife's expenditure on her husband is an act of voluntary donation and favor, and it does not prevent giving zakat to him.
