The answer

al-Fitr is obligatory upon the husband. If he is unable to pay it or refuses, some scholars are of the opinion that it becomes obligatory upon the capable wife. If the wife pays her Zakat for herself or on behalf of her husband, that is permissible, provided the husband is aware and consents to her paying it on his behalf.
