If the husband wishes to pay its zakat on her behalf, he must inform her. As for the gold owned by the husband, zakat becomes obligatory on it if its weight reaches eighty-five grams of pure gold and a year has passed over it (hawl), and he pays a quarter of a tenth (2.5%) of its value.
