Is it permissible to sell wheat that has not fully grown due to lack of rain and cannot be harvested by the combine, to another man for the benefit of his sheep and livestock, and is Zakat obligatory on the selling price if it reaches the nisab?

It is permissible to sell crops after they have dried and ripened, and no longer require water. It is also permissible to sell them while still in their ears, according to the majority of scholars. Zakat (definition) becomes obligatory on them if they reach the nisab (definition), which is five awsuq. Zakat should be paid from the same type of wheat, even if it is of poor quality, and its amount is estimated by kharṣ (estimation). If one sells the crop before paying Zakat, the amount due remains a debt on him, and he must buy it and give it to the rightful recipients. According to the majority of scholars, it is not permissible to pay the value (in money) instead of the crop. The obligatory amount is one-tenth or one-half of it. However, if the crop has not reached the stage of ripeness, it is permissible to sell it on the condition that it is cut.
