Is it permissible to use Zakat money to purchase a car that will be my property, provided that its rental income is for my relatives?

Zakat (definition) is obligatory for whoever owns the nisab (definition) and a hawl has passed on it, even if he spends on his family or others. The obligation of zakat is not waived as long as the nisab remains until the end of the hawl. It is not permissible to purchase a car from zakat funds, even if its rent would go to the needy. However, it is permissible to transfer ownership of a car to a poor person if his maintenance is not obligatory upon the zakat payer, and this is considered as paying the value of zakat, which is permissible if it is more beneficial for the poor person.
