However, Zakat is obligatory on a plot of land purchased with the intention of trade and sale if a full year has passed over it and its value reaches the , either by itself or when combined with other funds. Its value is assessed at market price at the time the year is completed, and one-quarter of one-tenth (2.5%) is to be given from it.
