Is zakat obligatory on fig fruit?

Zakat (definition) is not obligatory on vegetables and fruits unless they are for trade, reach the nisab (definition) (minimum threshold), and a hawl (one lunar year) passes over them, because they are neither measurable by volume nor storable. This is supported by the hadith (definition): "There is no sadaqah (definition) (Zakat) on less than five awsuq of dates or grain." Thus, whatever is not measurable by volume is not subject to Zakat. Jurists have agreed on the non-obligation of Zakat on most fruits and vegetables, but if they are sold and their owner receives a price, then he pays Zakat on that price if a hawl passes over it.
