How can a طالب العلم (seeker of knowledge) in Jordan who loves religion and seeking knowledge overcome his fear of associating with religious people and students of knowledge who discourage him, and regain his resolve and faith after becoming isolated and suffering from weakness in worship and a sense of being lost?
Seeking knowledge is a great act of devotion. A Muslim is not permitted to abandon it due to people's ill-treatment. Rather, patience and cooperation in righteousness are obligatory, for "prayer is among the best deeds people perform. So if they do good, do good with them, and if they do bad, avoid their evil." Neglecting prayer is a serious matter, as severe warnings against its neglect have been mentioned in the Quran and , such as His (Allah's) saying: "Then succeeded after them a generation who neglected prayers and followed their lusts; so they will soon meet evil," and the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Whoever misses the Asr prayer, his deeds have been nullified."
