The answer

Adultery is a grave sin and one of the major transgressions, especially when committed by a married woman. However, Allah accepts repentance from all sins, as He states: "Say, 'O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful.'"

Repentance involves abandoning the sin, regretting it, and resolving not to return to it, as well as avoiding the causes of the disobedience. If the repentance is sincere, it will be accepted, by Allah's permission. One must have a good opinion of Allah, turn to Him, and frequently engage in His remembrance and supplication. The husband is advised not to mock her repentance and to conceal his wife's sin, and not to divorce her as long as she is repentant.
