The question

What is the religious ruling on a wife's actions of taking her daughter and depriving the father of seeing her and communicating with her, and preventing her from communicating with her paternal half-siblings, and threatening the child with that, knowing that the wife has children from a previous marriage and encourages the daughter to communicate with them but not with her paternal half-siblings? And what is the right of the father and the daughter in this case? And what are the consequences for the wife due to her actions?

The answer

The aforementioned wife is disobedient and severs her ties of kinship by traveling without her husband's permission. The husband must admonish her and remind her of the punishment for these actions. If her situation does not improve despite all attempts at reconciliation, then divorce is the solution, in accordance with the Almighty's saying: "But if they separate [by divorce], Allah will enrich each of them from His abundance." The mother has the greater right to custody after divorce, but she is not entitled to prevent the father from seeing his daughter.
