Is it forbidden for males to wear gold from birth, or is it permissible for a boy to wear it until the age of seven?

The majority of scholars agree on the prohibition of wearing gold and silk for males, citing the Hadith: "Indeed, these two are forbidden for the males of my Ummah." The Hanafis, Hanbalis, and one view among the Shafi'is hold that it is forbidden for males to wear gold, whether they are young or old, except in cases of necessity. As for the Malikis, they permit a boy to wear gold, though it is disliked.

The relied-upon opinion in fatwa is that of those who forbid dressing a child in gold and silk, due to the general prohibition for males, and so that the child does not become accustomed to it and continue wearing it when he grows up.

The sin of a boy wearing gold or silk falls upon the one who dressed him, because the child is not yet subject to religious obligations.
