What is the ruling on attaching some gold pieces to the clothes of a male newborn?

The statements of the jurists regarding the ruling on adorning a male child and dressing him in what is forbidden for adult men (such as gold and silk) have been previously mentioned. We stated that some of them ruled it forbidden, some ruled it disliked, and some ruled it permissible. However, the most cautious and absolving approach is to avoid it, based on the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Indeed, the lawful is clear, and the unlawful is clear, and between them are matters that are doubtful, about which many people do not know. So, whoever avoids the doubtful matters, he has absolved his religion and his honor. And whoever falls into the doubtful matters, he falls into the unlawful."
