"Depicting animate beings is forbidden, whether through photography or other means. It is not permissible for a wife to place her picture and her husband's picture in her necklace, even if they are not visible to people. Photographic images are permissible only when there is a necessity for them, such as passport or ID photos. A woman's image is more strictly prohibited than a man's because she is considered 'awrah' (private and to be concealed). It is also not permissible to wear gold that has an image of an animate being on it, just as it is forbidden to keep pictures for remembrance."
