Is Hajj sufficient for the expiation of intercourse during Ramadan or the expiation of Dhihar?

Whoever is obligated to offer expiation for intercourse during Ramadan (definition) or for ẓihār (a pre-Islamic form of divorce by which a man declared his wife unlawful to him by comparing her to his mother's back) must expiate in the manner prescribed by Islamic law; Hajj or anything else does not suffice for it.

So, whoever incurs the cause for expiation in Ramadan or for ẓihār must emancipate a slave. If he is unable to do so, he must fast for two consecutive months. If he is unable to do that, he must feed sixty needy persons. This is based on the hadith (definition) of Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding the expiation for intercourse, and based on Allah's saying concerning the expiation for ẓihār: "And those who declare ẓihār on their wives and then wish to go back on what they said – then [there must be] the freeing of a slave before they touch one another. That is what you are admonished thereby; and Allah is Acquainted with what you do. And he who does not find [a slave to free] – then a fast for two consecutive months before they touch one another. And he who is unable to do so – then the feeding of sixty needy persons." (Al-Mujadalah: 3-4).
