What is the tribulation in religion from which people praise God for their safety, and is a person afflicted in his religion someone with whom God is displeased, even though illnesses hinder his worship and cause him great hardship? Is this tribulation a sign of wrath or love from God?

Calamity is of two types: an elevation in rank and purification from sins for one who is steadfast in obedience to Allah, and a punishment and deterrent for the rebellious disobedient person. What you are suffering from, such as the sensation of a foul odor or blood, and the intrusive thoughts of reviling Allah, all this indicates clear obsessive thoughts, where illusion becomes a reality for the one afflicted by them. You must be patient, turn to Allah through supplication, and maintain remembrance of Allah and acts of obedience. If what afflicts you is chronic flatulence or obsessive thoughts, then purify yourself and pray, and do not pay attention to the release of gas; and fast, and do not pay attention to the emission of blood, and spit it out if you sense it. Allah does not burden a soul beyond its capacity. Have a good opinion of Allah and do not despair of His mercy. There is no harm in seeking a Shaykh for ruqyah shariyyah (Islamic exorcism) or a psychiatrist.
