Is a person considered sinful if he fears being afflicted with diseases and calamities, and does not wish for God to test him, and what are the supplications and remembrances that repel affliction?

Tribulation is a cosmic law by which Allah tests His servants. Whoever is content with it will have contentment, and whoever is discontent will have discontent. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade wishing for tribulation and commanded asking Allah for well-being. Among the supplications that ward off tribulation are: asking Allah for well-being, seeking refuge from severe trials, from being overtaken by wretchedness, and from evil destiny, and saying: "In the Name of Allah, with Whose Name nothing on earth or in heaven can cause harm, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing" three times in the morning and evening, and seeking refuge from the cessation of Allah's blessings, the change of His well-being, the suddenness of His wrath, and all His displeasure. Also, asking Allah for all good and seeking refuge from all evil, asking for Paradise and whatever words or deeds bring one closer to it, and seeking refuge from Hellfire and whatever words or deeds bring one closer to it, and making every decree good. Tribulation can be through evil or through good. A Muslim is tested in adversity to be patient and in prosperity to be grateful.
