Is it permissible to approach a woman who has had a miscarriage, and is her ruling the same as that of a woman who has given birth?
If, as a result of an abortion, a fetus is expelled and human features are discernible (after 81 days of pregnancy), the woman is considered to be in a state of post-natal bleeding (). Intercourse is not permissible while the bleeding continues, until she becomes pure or the period of nifas (forty days) elapses. However, if human features are not discernible in the expelled fetus, the blood is not considered nifas. If it occurs during the time of menstruation or shows its signs, it is considered menstrual blood (hayd), and intercourse is not permissible until purity is attained. If it is not hayd, then she is considered to have irregular bleeding (), and intercourse with her is permissible.
