Is it permissible to remain unmarried to serve one's mother and gain her pleasure, while fearing marriage and its problems, and focusing on the afterlife?

A person's endeavor to please their parents and dedicate their effort to serving them is a great act of worship, and there is no contradiction between that and marriage. Therefore, seek a husband of good character and religion who will protect your chastity, for by doing so, you combine filial piety with obedience to your husband. Marriage may be obligatory, commendable, or subject to other rulings among the five Islamic categories, and the desired benefits outweigh any hardships that may arise from it.
