Is it advisable to move to Makkah to strengthen one's faith and seek reward, despite committing intermittent sins and having a desire to repent?

Residing in Mecca is commendable, unless there is a strong presumption of falling into blameworthy acts. Scholars have differed on this matter; some have disliked prolonged residence in Mecca for fear of committing sins, while others have found it desirable due to the ease of performing acts of obedience there, such as "circumambulation (Tawaf), and the multiplied rewards for prayers and good deeds." The preferred view is that prolonged residence is commendable as long as there is no strong presumption of falling into blameworthy acts. Indeed, countless individuals from the predecessors and successors of the Ummah have resided there.
