What is the ruling on touching a garment that was washed in a washing machine after it was contaminated with dog saliva and was not cleansed with earth? And does the garment, if wet, defile what it touches, according to the three opinions mentioned in the text and in the Hanbali school of thought? And is it permissible to follow any of these opinions, especially the easier opinion of Abu al-Qasim al-Daraki?

It is not permissible to keep dogs without need, and the method of preference in matters of dispute should be based on presenting evidence.

The statement of Abu Al-Qasim Al-Daraki is strong, and it is the sounder of the two opinions among the Hanbalis regarding water separated after the removal of impurity: it is pure if the place is earth, and if it is not earth, it is pure according to the sounder of the two opinions.

It is obligatory to wash a garment that has been touched by a dog's saliva seven times, the first of which is with earth, as an act of worship, based on the hadith: "If a dog licks a vessel belonging to one of you, he should wash it seven times, the first of which is with earth." This does not necessitate that whatever the garment touches after being washed once and the trace of impurity has disappeared becomes impure, because the trace of the dog's saliva is no longer present.
