What is the ruling on reciting Surat Al-Ikhlas the specified number of times, which is known as "Al-Samadiyah"?

Reading Surat Al-Ikhlas a specific number of times and calling it "Al-Samadiyah" has not been reported from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, nor was it practiced by his Companions. If it were good, they would have preceded us to it. A Muslim must strive in worship according to the prescribed manner. Whatever has not been authentically reported from the Companions is considered an innovation (bid'ah), and an unprescribed act is rejected from its doer. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever introduces into this matter of ours that which is not from it, it will be rejected."
