What is the ruling on attending training courses in which there is music and women, knowing that they are important for career development and prevent people of innovation from promotion?

The organizers of these courses should be advised to use permissible means that are free of music and images of women. If this is not possible, it is permissible to attend them if doing so results in a general benefit and clear advantages for Muslims, and if the presence of good people or the development of their competencies depends on attending them, and if it prevents deviant individuals from gaining influence. This attendance should not be merely for a worldly purpose. One should also strive to lower their gaze and dislike the music, as this falls under the principle of committing the lesser of two harms. For the loss of important positions by good people and the empowerment of evil people is a great corruption. Scholars have issued fatwas permitting this, in consideration of the rule of committing the lesser of two harms to ward off the greater, such as the fatwa issued by Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen regarding music in the army, and Sheikh Ibn Baz regarding the Muslim media professional attending events that contain forbidden things in order to explain their harm to society, provided that the intention is for the public good and not for enjoyment.
