What is the ruling on someone who experienced the discharge of prostatic fluid (madhy), and was unable to pinpoint the exact spot it soiled on his garment; should he change his undergarments, or perform ablution and pray?

Pre-seminal fluid (madhi) is impure by scholarly consensus. Any clothing or body part it touches must be washed. If its discharge is frequent and washing the garment becomes difficult, then sprinkling water (nadh) suffices, according to the preponderant opinion. This is based on the narration of Sahl ibn Hunayf (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "It is sufficient for you to take a handful of water and sprinkle it on your garment where you see that it has touched."

If the discharge of pre-seminal fluid is frequent and its exact location is difficult to ascertain, there is no need to change underwear. It is sufficient to sprinkle water on the area where contamination is most probable, along with the option of using tissues to prevent the impurity from spreading. Prayers offered while pre-seminal fluid was on the clothes and not washed or sprinkled must be re-offered. One should make up the prayers until one is reasonably certain of having fulfilled the obligation.
