What is the reason for naming Wadi Mina and Mount Arafat with these names?

Scholars have differed on the reason for naming Mina and Arafat. The name Mina is attributed to the abundance of blood shed there, while Arafat, it is said, is due to people recognizing each other there. Another opinion states that Gabriel used to show Abraham the rituals and ask him, "Have you recognized it?" to which he would reply, "I have recognized it." Yet another opinion suggests it is where Adam and Eve met and recognized each other after their descent from Paradise. A Muslim should not occupy himself with researching these matters.
