Is the statement that love for God is solely for His essence and attributes, without being linked to the desire for Paradise or the fear of Hellfire, correct, or is it incorrect as one of the sheikhs mentioned?

Ali ibn al-Husayn ibn Ali stated that worshipping Allah out of fear is the worship of slaves, and worshipping Him out of desire is the worship of merchants. As for worshipping Him out of love and gratitude, that is the worship of the free and righteous. The correct approach is for the servant to combine love, desire, and fear, because Allah the Almighty praised those who worship Him with these three forms of worship. Allah the Almighty said: [But those who believe are stronger in love for Allah], and [They supplicate Us in hope and fear]. Al-Ghazali said that the ultimate goal of a believer is to balance their fear and hope, with fear predominating before death, because it encourages action. At the time of death, hope and good expectation of Allah should prevail, because hope strengthens the heart and endears the servant to their Lord.
