How can the Prophet’s saying, peace and blessings be upon him, "No one spoke in the cradle except for three," be reconciled with the existence of statements indicating that more than these three spoke in the cradle? And how is it to be understood that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said that before knowing about the increase, while he was receiving revelation from Allah Almighty?

Scholars, in reconciling hadiths, state that the hadith "No one spoke in the cradle except three" does not contradict the story of the Boy of the Ditch, because the Boy of the Ditch was not in the cradle; rather, he was older, even if still young. This interpretation has been supported by Imam An-Nawawi and Al-Albani. Some scholars have interpreted the hadith of Abu Hurairah to mean that the Prophet (peace be upon him) was not aware of the addition at that time, in order to reconcile the authentic hadiths without rejecting any of them.
