The default is for a woman to remain in her home, based on the Almighty's saying: (And abide in your homes), and the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: (Woman is 'awrah [private], and when she goes out, Satan beautifies her, and she is never closer to Allah than in the deepest part of her house). However, she is permitted to go out for work under specific conditions, including: necessity, the suitability of the work to a woman's nature, its being in an exclusively female field, her adherence to the legal hijab, her not traveling without a mahram, that her going out does not lead to committing something forbidden, and that her work does not lead to neglecting her family duties.
