Is it true that the Noble Qur’an will be a proof against whoever memorizes it but does not act upon what is in it, and feels that every letter he writes will be a torment for him, not an intercessor, and must he abandon memorizing the Qur’an in this case?

Staying devoted to memorizing the Quran is a great deed for which a Muslim will be rewarded. Any lethargy or weakness in faith he experiences is natural and should not deter his resolve. The Quran is either a proof for its reciter or against him. This does not mean abandoning its memorization for fear that it will be a proof against him; rather, it is an encouragement to adhere to it and follow its teachings, and a warning against forsaking it and disobeying its commands. So, let him continue memorizing the Quran and pay no mind to the whispers of Satan that beautify the idea that his memorization will be a torment for him.
