The question

Can Allah punish me in my work or make me unhappy in my life due to intense anger and feeling that Allah is displeased with me, and due to my occasional disbelief, and attributing misfortunes and illnesses to Allah, despite my suffering from obsessive-compulsive disorder? And what are the best supplications or Quranic verses to attract provision (such as Surat Al-Waqi'ah)?

The answer

A Muslim must be content with Allah's decree and destiny and be patient with it, for Allah is Wise, putting things in their proper places. Whatever affliction befalls a believer is good for him, as the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Wondrous is the affair of the believer, for there is good in all his affairs..." And sin may be a cause of calamities, "And whatever strikes you of disaster - it is because of what your hands have earned." As for abundant provision, it comes through fearing Allah (taqwa), seeking forgiveness (istighfar), and supplication (du'a). The most important cause for abundant provision is fearing Allah, "And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him a way out And will provide for him from where he does not expect." Also, seeking forgiveness brings wealth and children. And to avoid obsessive whispers is by turning away from them and not paying attention to them.
