What is the ruling on using scented wet wipes in public such that men can smell their fragrance, and is it permissible to use them if they contain a small percentage of alcohol despite "alcohol-free" being written on them, and does this affect the purity of the body and prayer?

If a fragrance emanates from tissues, a woman is prohibited from using them when passing through a place where men are present.

As for alcohol, there is an ongoing difference of opinion regarding it, and our fatwa considers it impure. Therefore:

- If you are unsure about the presence of alcohol, there is no harm in using them, as the default assumption is their absence. - If you are certain of the presence of alcohol, it is safer to avoid them. They become impure, and anything on the body or clothing that their wetness touches also becomes impure, and prayer performed with them is invalid. - If alcohol transforms into another substance with no remaining trace, it becomes pure.
