Is physical appearance an influential factor in choosing a life partner?

"Beauty is an important criterion in choosing a life partner, but the criterion of religion is more important. This is indicated by the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) saying: 'A woman is married for four things: for her wealth, for her lineage, for her beauty, and for her religion. So, choose the religious woman, and you will prosper.' Narrated by Al-Bukhari and Muslim. It is also indicated by the fact that the Prophet (peace be upon him) approved the request of the wife of Thabit ibn Qays to separate from her husband due to his ugliness.

We advise a woman, if she finds a man who is acceptably handsome and possesses good character and religiosity, not to hesitate in marrying him, acting upon the hadith: 'If someone whose character and religiosity you approve comes to you (seeking marriage), then marry him. If you do not do so, there will be tribulation on earth and widespread corruption.'"
