If doctors decide that your illness is chronic and incurable, you should break your fast and feed one poor person for each day, approximately 750 grams of food. You can send the value of the food to a relative in Egypt to purchase and distribute the food, or pay it to a charitable organization. However, if the illness is not chronic, it is not permissible to give food; instead, you must wait to recover and then make up the missed fasts. The expiation (fidyah) should be given after Ramadan, or after the night of each day begins. It is not permissible to give the expiation for a day before its night has begun.
