Are parents who cause their children to suffer from illnesses and psychological distress held accountable, whether they realize it or not? And is it permissible to supplicate against a tyrannical or cruel father because of his harshness and hurtful words?

Psychological pressure on children leads to accountability if it is intentional, according to the verse: "And there is no blame upon you for that in which you have erred, but [there is blame for] what your hearts intended." However, if the cause is neglect and indifference, then it is a shortcoming for which its perpetrator will be held accountable. As for supplicating against a parent, it is not permissible, no matter how great their injustice or harshness; because it is among the worst forms of disobedience. A parent should be supplicated for, not against.
