The answer

A wife is advised to strive to preserve her husband's good qualities, to be keen on maintaining affection between them, and not to allow anyone to come between them. She should also be patient, as stated in the noble Hadith: "And no one has been given a gift better and more expansive than patience." It is obligatory to frequently supplicate for the improvement of the situation. Among the suitable supplications is: "O Allah, I hope for Your mercy, so do not entrust me to myself for the blink of an eye, and correct all my affairs for me. There is no god but You." It is also recommended for spouses to understand each other as the optimal way to resolve problems, and to gently advise the husband to guide his children well to ward off their harm from her. The stepdaughter's statement about her father, that he is not a man or is weak in character, is considered a reprehensible act because it is backbiting and shakes trust in the husband. Therefore, she must be advised, and she should not be listened to, for "your mentioning about your brother what he dislikes" is backbiting.
