Do the three straps that you tie around the waist and thighs to hold a barrier that prevents the soiling of the izar due to urinary incontinence during 'Umrah count as sewn garments that are impermissible to wear?
The aforementioned band tied around the thighs is considered a sewn garment, which is prohibited during the state of , and a (expiation) is required for it according to the Malikis and Hanbalis, unlike the Hanafis and Shafi'is. The Shafi'is hold that if a muhrim (pilgrim in a state of ihram) needs to wear trousers to cover the awrah (private parts) or to protect against impurity, no fidyah is obligatory. Based on this, it is permissible to use the band, and no fidyah is required for it. However, it is preferable to suffice by wrapping a piece of cloth around the male organ only to guard against impurity. If it is not possible except to use the aforementioned band, then doing so is permissible, and paying the fidyah as a precaution is more prudent.
