What is the ruling of Islamic law on acquiring a house, performing Hajj, or benefiting from the European insolvency law for debtors, given that the debts exceed one's ability to repay them, and what is the ruling of Islamic law if the debt cannot be repaid despite sincere intention?
If someone is in debt and intends to pay it back but is unable to do so, they are excused, and the creditor must grant them an extension, based on the verse: "And if there is one in hardship, then [let there be] a delay until [a time of] ease." And if the debtor dies intending to repay their debt, Allah will take care of them. However, any legal step that leads to repudiating the debt is forbidden, because Allah has made it obligatory for the debtor to repay when able. It is permissible to delay debt repayment for purchasing a house if that is necessary; otherwise, debts take precedence.
