Is zakat obligatory on a wife's gifted gold, kept with her father, from which she occasionally chooses what to wear, and upon whom is it obligatory: upon the husband or upon her?

The majority of jurists hold that permissible jewelry intended for adornment is not subject to Zakat, and this is the prevailing fatwa. Therefore, any gold possessed by the wife that is intended for adornment is not subject to Zakat, regardless of whether she wears it continuously or infrequently. However, if the gold is not intended for adornment, then Zakat is obligatory on it if it reaches the nisab. If Zakat becomes obligatory, it is due on the wife's wealth, unless the husband voluntarily undertakes to pay it on her behalf.
