Does Allah Almighty hear two types of things?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Hearing is an attribute firmly established for Allah Almighty, in a manner befitting His perfection, and it does not resemble the hearing of created beings, as He Almighty said: {There is nothing like unto Him, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing.} The word "hearing" when attributed to Allah Almighty may refer to two meanings: The first is the perception of sounds, as in His Almighty saying: {Allah has certainly heard the saying of those who said, 'Indeed, Allah is poor, and we are rich.'} The second is responsiveness and acceptance, as in His Almighty saying about Abraham (peace be upon him): {Indeed, my Lord is the Hearer of supplication}, and the worshiper's saying: "Allah hears those who praise Him," meaning Allah responds to the supplication of those who praise Him.
