Is reliance on Allah to resolve a family problem, despite not possessing the necessary money in a materialistic society, considered a sound stance?

The husband must provide for his wife and children with what is reasonable, neither extravagantly nor restrictively, by providing their needs of food and shelter, commensurate with his ability. This is based on the Almighty’s saying: "Let a man of prosperity spend from his prosperity; and as for him whose provision is restricted, let him spend from what Allah has given him. Allah does not burden a soul beyond what He has given it. Allah will bring about ease after hardship." The Lawgiver has encouraged spending on one's family and made it of greater reward than all other forms of charity.
