What is the ruling on purchasing beverages whose caps include a prize? And does the ruling differ if the buyer prefers these beverages over others, even if they may be of lesser quality?

Methods of promoting goods have adopted innovative ways to attract buyers, and whoever excels in advertising methods is the successful merchant. What this company is responsible for is not without several possibilities:

1. If one buys the commodity for his need of it and does not intend the gift, and everyone who buys the commodity receives a gift, this is permissible. 2. If one has a purpose for the commodity, and the gift is not for everyone who buys but comes by chance and coincidence, and the buyer did not intend the gift, then it appears there is no harm in this case. 3. If one has no purpose for the commodity, and does not receive a gift unless he collects a number of covers to complete a phrase or picture, then the closer opinion is prohibition as a pre-emptive measure to prevent a means to a forbidden end, because he might buy what he does not need. 4. If one has no purpose for the commodity and only buys it to be allowed to participate in a prize draw, then the apparent ruling is the prohibition of this form due to its waste of money and gambling, as the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Indeed, Allah dislikes for you gossip, excessive questioning, and wasting money."
