What is the ruling on selling frankincense, knowing that it is used in shrines?

Benzoin is a type of incense, and its sale and use are permissible. It is desirable to perfume the deceased with incense when preparing the body, so that the scent of the incense may overpower any potential odor. However, perfuming a shrine (grave) is not legislated. Scholars have prohibited following a funeral procession with fire or an censer because it is a practice of the pre-Islamic era (Jahiliyyah) and of Christians, and it involves extravagance and boasting. Sheikh al-Islam considered the perfuming of graves to be among the reprehensible enormities.
