Do the Jews' boasting that the prophets are from among them, and that they are God's chosen people, and that God sent them the prophets, indicate the extent of their disobedience to God and their disbelief? And is this why God Almighty sends them prophets to guide them, or what?

The history of the Children of Israel is long concerning their breaking of covenants and pacts, their disobedience to God's commands, their transgression of His bounds, and their killing of prophets. The Holy Quran has reviewed their heinous acts with the prophets and their deviant stances towards God's blessings, such as their selection above the people of their time and the appointment of prophets from among them, reminding them of God's blessings upon them in the verse: "And [mention] when Moses said to his people, 'O my people, remember the favor of Allah upon you when He appointed among you prophets and made you kings and gave you what He had not given anyone among the worlds.'" The nature of the Jews does not know faithfulness, but rather treachery and deviance. The Quran addressed the Jews in the era of prophethood with what their forefathers did, indicating that their nature is one and does not change. They disbelieved in the unlettered Prophet, broke their covenants, and distorted the book of their Lord seeking worldly gains, as in the verse: "So woe to those who write the book with their own hands and then say, 'This is from Allah,' in order to exchange it for a small price. Woe to them for what their hands have written and woe to them for what they earn." They also described God as stingy and poor. The Quran's emphasis on revealing the nature of the Jews guides Muslims and warns them against being deceived by them, for their covenants and pacts are destined for breaking and violation, as in the verse: "Is it that whenever they made a covenant, a party of them threw it away? Rather, most of them do not believe."
