A girl should not reject a suitor claiming incompatibility of horoscopes, as this is forbidden and a form of divination. It is permissible to delay consent to the engagement to ascertain the suitor's religiosity and character, provided that the acquaintance does not occur in an unlawful manner, such as private seclusion ().
