What is the ruling on hanging pictures of one's parents in the home?

Pictures of animate beings must be removed immediately, because the Prophet (peace be upon him) forbade the taking of pictures and commanded their effacement. Indeed, angels do not enter a house in which there are statues or pictures. They can be replaced with pictures of inanimate objects. Hanging pictures must be removed and effaced or burned, because hanging pictures of the deceased renews grief and may lead to veneration that contradicts monotheism, as happened with the people of Noah.
