How is an inheritance distributed if the sole heir is one brother from the mother's side?

If the deceased leaves no heir except a uterine brother, he receives one-sixth as a prescribed share, based on the Almighty's saying: "And if a man or a woman leaves no heir [kalalah] but has a brother or a sister [on the mother's side], then for each one of them is the sixth." The remainder is returned to him due to the absence of a properly organized public treasury (Bayt al-Mal). It should be noted that the division of inheritances is a serious and complex matter and must be referred to Sharia courts for investigation before distribution.
