What is the ruling on delaying the Dhuhr, Asr, and Maghrib prayers until close to the end of their time, or making up the Maghrib prayer after Isha due to work circumstances and obsessive thoughts? Is this considered being heedless of prayer? Is it obligatory to repeat a prayer if it was performed 5 minutes before the time due to the overlapping calls to prayer from Sunni and Shia mosques? Is it a sin to ask for mercy for a deceased innovator?

Delaying the prayer is permissible if it is performed before its time expires. However, deliberately delaying it until its time expires is one of the major sins and is considered among the heedlessness mentioned in the Almighty's saying: (So woe to those who pray, [But] who are heedless of their prayer). Congregational prayer is obligatory upon adult men, unless there is a valid excuse. It is not permissible to delay the Dhuhr prayer until the time of Asr, or the Maghrib prayer until the time of Isha, unless there is an excuse that permits combining the prayers. Prayer is not permissible before its time, and it is obligatory to rely on the news of trustworthy callers to prayer (mu'adhins) from among the people of Sunnah.
