Why does the husband not like to give gifts to his wife, even though the wife has given her husband gifts multiple times?

Gift-giving is desirable because it increases affection and removes ill-will and resentment. A husband should be keen on giving gifts to increase the love between him and his wife, or at least reciprocate kindness. Indeed, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to reciprocate those who did him a favor.
