The answer

Tarawih prayer is a Sunnah for which one is rewarded if performed, and not punished if left. It is recommended for someone inside the mosque not to abandon praying Tarawih with the congregation and engage in other activities, because doing so leads to missing the reward of prayer and prioritizing the less virtuous over the more virtuous. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, commanded anyone who prayed the obligatory prayer at home and then came to the mosque to pray with the congregation, due to the benefit of dispelling doubt about oneself and acquiring the reward of congregational prayer. Furthermore, staying away from Tarawih prayer for someone in the mosque might raise suspicion and accusation that they do not believe in the validity of praying with the Imam. Therefore, it is appropriate for anyone present for Tarawih to pray it with the Imam and not sit to recite the Quran.
