What is the ruling on shunning the father and supporting the mother if the father has wronged the mother and harmed her psychologically and physically, especially with a long history of abuse from the father and his family, and with the children's knowledge of his betrayal and its impact on the mother?

A daughter must support her parents, both the oppressor and the oppressed, by preventing the oppressor from committing injustice. This is done by enjoining what is right and forbidding what is wrong, while ensuring that this does not lead to a severing of kinship ties or disobedience (uquq). The approach must be appropriate for them, without violence, abuse, or harshness in speech. It is not permissible to abandon the father or to abuse the mother; rather, one must supplicate for them and seek forgiveness on their behalf.
